October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Dating back to 1985, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a campaign designed to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. All throughout the month, breast cancer organizations host a variety of events, fundraisers and campaigns to help those affected by breast cancer and their families.

If you or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer, you are not alone. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. As the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women, breast cancer affects thousands of women each year.

There are many ways to get involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, whether it involves encouraging early detection with friends and family or volunteering at a local fundraiser.

Ways to Get Involved:

  • Make a donation to a breast cancer organization.
  • Attend or volunteer at a fundraiser or event.
  • Learn about early detection and share its importance with others.
  • Wear pink to spread awareness.
  • Share your story on social media.

Wishing you a happy and healthy October!
