Easy Hacks All Homeowners Should Know
Over the years, experienced homeowners have developed a lengthy list of inventive “hacks” to make life a little easier. From creative cleaning ideas to storage solutions, these simple hacks can make homeownership a little more streamlined.
Use a hair dryer to remove dust from blinds. Put your hair dryer on a cool setting and blow air on your blinds to remove dust and debris.
Freeze vinegar into ice cubes and run them through your garbage disposal. This serves two purposes — vinegar cleans your disposal and the hard ice cubes will sharpen the blades.
Clean a dirty microwave by heating a bowl of water and vinegar. Microwave a bowl of water and white vinegar (one cup of each) for five minutes to steam the interior. Then, carefully remove the bowl and wipe down the interior with a sponge.
Hide your thermostat behind a canvas. Simply hang a thick canvas to the wall by a hinge on the side so you can easily access your thermostat — but hide it from view!
Use a squeegee to remove pet hair from carpets and rugs. Simply run a squeegee along the surface of your carpet or rug. You’d be surprised by the amount of extra pet hair you can pick up!
Remove scuff marks on the floor by rubbing over them with a dry tennis ball. Get rid of pesky scuff marks from shoes and furniture by running a dry tennis ball over them.
Use a file organizer to store thin items in the kitchen. Store your thin cooking supplies, like cutting boards and cooking sheets, upright in a file organizer to keep them organized and easy to access.
Now you know!
I hope one of these simple hacks makes you an even happier homeowner.
